Once again, got offered a ride without even asking while walking around looking for a place to hitch. Sign Frankfurt. Solo female. Got ride to Gießen (Reinhardshain Nord). Should be easy to get rides though, quite a lot of people.―Anonymous

Should be easy, lots of people with southern plates and trucks. Didn't even get to hitch as I got offered a ride while going to the (women's) bathroom with a sign Frankfurt. This has become my new technique. Look a bit lost and walk around with a sign. (worth mentioning she was an old hitchhiker and had even participated in races).―Anonymous

Although it seems perfect for the direction north to Hamburg, it's not recommendable to get to A2 in the direction of Berlin. If you're coming from A5 rather choose A4 and A9 to get to Berlin.―Anonymous

After having been here for the 3rd time trying to get a lift to the A2 towards Magdeburg I can confirm it is much harder than going north. While lots of people would have taken me towards Hannover, Hamburg or Bremen, there were few going towards Braunschweig in the first place. You can accept lifts to Braunschweig or Wolfsburg, there is a gas station at the A39 with almost no traffic, but better chances to get a lift further east.

we arrived here at night so we were hanging out for like 4 h. First tried with a "Berlin Sign" but most of the people driving to Hamburg. Then we asked like 5 people stopping for petrol and within 10 min we got a lift to Magdeburg.―Anonymous

Alright place to start hitchhiking south on the A7. Recommend it as a starting or ending spot for your trip as your able to get to there from the road nearby (though you might need to jump a fence). The parking spot isn't super busy, so if you need to switch rides I'd recommend other bigger autobahn parking spaces to the south or the north.―Anonymous
